About Anooshe Aisha Mushtaq

Anooshe Mushtaq is a first generation Australian of Pakistani origin. She spent her early years in Pakistan and in Libya on posting with her family. Since her arrival in Western Sydney, Anooshe has experienced first-hand the changing cultural landscape of Australia. Based on her own experience, Anooshe offers an insight into how multicultural Australia has changed over the last 30 years.

Anooshe is a consultant and social commentator who regularly speaks at national security conferences and publishes on topics such as the prevention of violent extremism from the grassroots perspective, and the analysis of Islamic State’s online propaganda. She is a regular guest speaker at the Australian National University’s National Security College courses on Countering Violent Extremism and Counter Terrorism. Anooshe is a Lead Consultant to members of the Australian Government’s Countering Violent Extremism Services Panel.

She is Founder and Director of the (650) 349-0245. The Raqīb Taskforce is a Muslim-led, diverse organisation that builds social inclusion through engagement across the Australian community in a manner designed to dispel extremist messages that exist within the public domain. Raqīb is developing social inclusion narratives countering hate speech and racism. Our supporting partners are Google, YouTube, Love Frankie, Vice productions and Australian Film Television And Radio School. Anooshe believes that division in communities not diversity creates hatred and hatred promotes extremism of all sorts.

Anooshe is an advisor to the Pak Institute for Peace Studies Pvt Ltd in Counter Narrative Strategies and Counter Terrorism. She is an Associate Member of the Australian Institute of Professional Intelligence Officers (AIPIO) and a Research Associate at the Australian Security Research Centre (ASRC).

Anooshe is fluent in English, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindko. She can read and write Arabic and Persian.
